Understand your retention metrics, track cancel flow performance, and optimize your save strategy.

Save Rate

Save rate measures how effectively your cancel flow retains subscribers. It's calculated as the number of subscribers who entered the cancel flow but did not complete cancellation, divided by the total number who entered. A save rate between 20% and 40% is typical for well-optimized flows — below 20% suggests your offers aren't resonating, while above 40% is strong performance. To improve your save rate, focus on matching offers to cancellation reasons (a discount for price concerns, a pause for timing issues), strengthening your offer copy, and reducing the number of steps in your flow. Review save rate trends weekly to catch drops early, and compare it against your baseline from the first month to track improvement over time.

Match Rate / Cancel Button Health

Match rate (also called cancel button health) measures the percentage of cancel button clicks that SubJolt successfully intercepted. A healthy match rate is 95% or above — it means nearly every cancel attempt goes through your retention flow. When match rate drops below 95%, some subscribers are cancelling without seeing your save offers. Common causes include: your site's cancel button changed (new CSS class, different DOM structure), a site redesign moved the button, or a third-party billing portal updated its layout. Check match rate on your dashboard and investigate drops immediately. To fix a low match rate, re-run the setup wizard to update the button selector, or set a manual CSS selector if your cancel button changes frequently.

Dashboard Overview

The SubJolt dashboard gives you a real-time view of your retention performance. The main charts show cancellations over time, save rate trends, and mechanism performance breakdowns. You can filter by date range using the controls at the top of the page. The Starter plan includes the cancellation reasons chart, which shows which reasons subscribers select most often — use this to prioritize which reasons get the strongest save offers. Pro unlocks the full dashboard: save rate tracking with trend lines, per-mechanism conversion rates, write-in sentiment analysis, and per-reason breakdowns. All data updates within minutes of subscriber interactions, so you can monitor the impact of configuration changes in near real-time.

Cancellation Reasons & Feedback

The cancellation reasons chart shows the distribution of reasons subscribers select when starting the cancel flow. This is your most actionable data source — it tells you exactly why people are leaving. If price is the top reason, your pricing or discount strategy needs attention. If product fit dominates, your onboarding or feature set may be the issue. Use this data to prioritize which cancellation reasons get the most compelling save offers. The write-in feedback section (Pro) collects free-text responses from subscribers who use the write-in option. Review these monthly for patterns — common themes often reveal issues that your preset reasons don't capture. Write-in feedback is especially valuable for identifying product bugs, feature gaps, and competitor-driven churn that standard reasons miss.

Save Mechanism Performance

The save mechanism performance chart (Pro) shows how each type of retention offer is performing — discounts, pauses, plan downgrades, and billing cycle switches. For each mechanism, you can see how many times it was presented, how many subscribers accepted it, and the resulting conversion rate. Use this to identify which offers actually save subscribers versus which ones get skipped. If discounts have a 30% acceptance rate but pauses only convert at 5%, consider replacing pause offers with stronger alternatives or repositioning them for different cancellation reasons. Also look at the completion rate — how many subscribers see the offer versus how many reach it in the flow. A low completion rate means subscribers are dropping off before that step, suggesting your flow has too many steps before the strongest offer.
